It's been a while since I've posted a restaurant review, and I originally wanted it to be a weekly thing where I can go in to more detail with each restaurant, but I don't think you people care that much, so I'm going to be truncating the whole thing and doing it every few weeks. Less pressure on me, and less reading for you.
Tonyburgers
This place has good burgers and good fries. Yes that sentence is something that a 7 year old would write, but it's a simple place. A step above fast food, this place takes the time to make things properly, like high quality meat and frying the fries twice (the best way to make fries I promise).
Overall: This isn't a destination restaurant, but it's really good. If you're in the neighborhood, check it out.
Rio Grande Cafe
Went here with Hali, under her guidance and really enjoyed it. This place isn't the best Mexican food in the valley (that's something else), but it's got a unique enough voice to set it apart from the others. Low prices and big portions are a plus here. The only real drawback is a big one for me: you have to pay for your chips. One of my all time favorite things to do is eat the free chips whilst looking over the menu. My father always taught me you can tell a lot about a Mexican restaurant by how they prepare and serve their chips.
Overall: The whole chips thing isn't a deal breaker, and I would definitely return. Good stuff.
Pat's Barbecue
I actually went here with my dad and my brother instead of Eric, but I'm listing it here anyways. This place is amazing. I'm honestly wondering how I never heard of it before. It was on Diners Drive-ins and Dives with that one Guy (Fieri), but my brother totally knew about it before it was cool like that. The barbeque is some of the best I've had in Utah and the atmosphere is great. There was live music and we ate on picnic tables.
I think there's a litmus test similar to chips and Mexican restaurants, when it comes to barbeque. That is the distribution of hot sauce and the napkins. Preferably there's a variety of in house sauces to try and love (check) and instead of napkins, there should be paper towels (double check). This seems trivial, but I feel like it's important.
Oh and the food is amazing.
Overall: Best barbeque I've had in Utah. Not much else to say here. Go!
